A basic version of the app was launched in June, featuring some of the website’s most popular functions.
The updated app, available from the iTunes app store and gaydar.co.uk today, features a "Gaydar Positioning System," which uses location-based technology to display Gaydar profiles of users logged into the app. Users can also use its "Nearby" tool to search for profiles based on postcodes.
It uses Google maps to embed maps into messages sent via the app to help users meet up on the go.
All of Gaydar’s 12 million photos available on the app have been rated by a customer relations team to ensure all the content is suitable for all ages. Users are able to send private photos attached to messages.
Simon Johnson, product manager at Gaydar, said: "The app is set to take our users' social life to another level, enabling them to arrange mates and dates on the go."
Android, Nokia and Blackberry versions of the app are in development.
