In its short history, GaydarRadio has broadcast live from Pride events around the country, given away a wedding to celebrate the introduction of civil partnerships, and has won digital station of the year at the Sony Radio Academy Awards.

Earlier this month, GaydarRadio revamped its website to help brands to engage with its users more effectively. Its suite of options for advertisers includes homepage takeovers, additional ad inventory and a weekly newsletter.

The new website has more video content, including daily video news bulletins, celebrity interviews and video blogs, and chatrooms so listeners can communicate with the presenters while they are on air.

The interactive website also links directly to the other Gaydar brands, including the dating sites Gaydar.co.uk and GaydarGirls.com.

In July, Qsoft Consulting, the owner of Gaydar.co.uk and GaydarRadio, expanded its commercial offer by appointing former TalkSport commercial director Kevin Bird to the new role of chief commercial officer.

Over the past 10 years, the girl band The Saturdays have visited the GaydarRadio studio more than any other band and this evening (19 October), GaydarRadio is celebrating its first decade at an event in Soho, with "special guest acts" and DJs.

Neil Sexton, co- presenter on breakfast every weekday from 6am, said: "I can't believe it's 10 amazing years of GaydarRadio. I'll never forget that moment when I sat behind the mic in the basement studio to present the first ever live show.

"For the first time in my radio career, I was able to totally be myself. I remember playing a Justin Timberlake track and saying how much I fancied him. I would never have dreamed of doing that on a previous station.

"It was such a liberating feeling and still is today. I think that's what makes GaydarRadio as relevant now as the day it began  – an expression of our diversity and a celebration of our lives."
