It seems that zombies are very much in fashion at the moment and there's nothing better than a good zombie game. It's a great excuse to indulge in having excessive amounts of weapons to wipe out hordes of the undead and who doesn't love that?
There are hundreds of zombie games around at the moment; you've got side-scrolling games like the newly released 'More Zombies', top-down view ammo-fests like 'Daytraders of the Dead' and shoot-em-up first-person games like 'Mouse of the Dead'.
But wiping out zombie hordes is one thing, what about a game from the Zombies' point of view?
One example of this is Sonny (and Sonny 2), which are both great games if you like RPGs but how about a game that doesn't take itself too seriously and features the next best thing to wiping out zombies - being a zombie that has to feast on victims to make new ones.
While not the most recent of games, Zombie Dawn offers a unique perspective on the genre. It's not some gun-drenched survival shoot-em-up. It's essentially a strategy game where you have to take command of your zombies and guide them to the tasty humans. Once bitten, they join your horde and you can then gang up on the surviving victims - who include the sort of heroes that you'd usually be playing as.
Based around various well-known Zombie locations (the shopping mall being a favourite), Zombie Dawn is a refreshing take on the usual Zombie game and while you'll need to get used to the control system, once you've played a few levels you'll be hooked and wondering where the last two hours went.
