I'm to quite sure what the genre this week's game falls into. I guess ‘distance', ‘range' or to be more exact ‘shoot something from a powerful catapult and see how far it goes'.
‘Toss the Turtle' (stop laughing at the back there) requires you to fire a turtle out of a very large cannon into a landscape that's full of bonus items and things that accelerate the turtle through into the air. The aim is simple: get as far as you can.
Made by the excellent Newgrounds (an online community portal that contains some of the best Flash work out there), Toss the Turtle offers an original approach to a tried and tested format. Fire your cartoon turtle from a large cannon, shoot catapult missiles at him to keep him in the air and get him to collect as many cash goodies as possible on the trip down.
What makes Toss the Turtle different is the polished game play and range of unlockable items to assist in flinging your turtle through the air. After all who wouldn't want to fire a turtle from a tank cannon ($200,000), while aiming a bazooka ($80,000) at him? Mixed with bone crunching sound effects and a healthy (but not excessive) amount of blood (which, when you think about it, is to be expected when you fire a cartoon turtle from a cannon and then shoot at him), Toss the Turtle is definitely worth a play before home time.
These types of games are great for time-wasting without bothering any of that grey matter that you'll need for the weekend. Other examples of this genre worth checking out are 'Learn To Fly' and 'Super Evil Air Voltar'. Have a good weekend!
