This week's choice is a masterclass in what makes a Flash game great: simple to master and instantly addictive yet with a learning curve that makes you feel like a genius by the time you've completed it.
This week's game is Red Remover, it's been doing the business all over the web recently and it's easy to see why. Kerb has never been one to jump on the Flash bandwagon but with a game that balances physics and gameplay so well this is worth a play.
Built by Gaz from The Game Homepage, Red Remover starts simply enough - get rid of all the pale red blocks on the screen by clicking them. Once you've mastered that you're introduced to red blocks that can't be clicked and have to be dropped off the screen by clicking the supporting pale red block. Once you've got your head round that idea, it introduces green blocks which have to be saved at all costs and left standing on the screen. And that's pretty much the idea. It starts off easily and soon builds into an addictive physics nightmare as more and more ideas are introduced.
What makes Red Remover great is the fact that once you've completed all 40 levels you're given an option to play in a bonus mode (where you have to redo each level but with only a spyglass-style view of the level) and then to complete the level with the minimum amount of moves. Once you've done that you unlock five more levels and if you still want more, you can create your own level with the level editor or play numerous amounts of user-created levels.
isn't big, but it's certainly clever....Enjoy!
