Ahhh TV, it's a truly marvellous invention that enables us to waste vast amounts of time tuning in each week to see what sort of a day Jack Bauer is having (a bad one), whether a group of survivors have managed to escape that weird island in Lost (they haven't) or whether Heroes has become good again (it hasn't).
While the episode style of telling a vast story has been bobbing around the games world for a while (made easier by advances in downloadable content) it's a relatively new concept for casual flash games to adopt. While they do exist, finding and keeping tabs on one is a different matter mainly due to the fact that casual games are just that, a nice casual way to waste a few hours.
The chances of you knowing about the next episode usually comes down to being fanatical about games and signing up for any newsletters from the company that makes the game or stumbling over a much later installment of the game which reminds you that you like it and that you should revisit it.
Vox Populi, Vox Dei (a werewolf thriller) is a very intriguing story where you play a Ninja who has had his baby taken by gun toting werewolves. Like me you're probably thinking so far so average, but it's all packaged up like an old school 8-bit platform adventure and manages to invoke both nostalgia (think Spectrum classic 'Werewolves of London' meets 'Manic Miner') and frustration as you work out the puzzles in each screen.
Just when you're led to believe you've mastered the entire game you end up with a cliffhanger with the immortal words "To Be Continued..."
It's very deserving of your last hour of the working week and hopefully it won't be a long wait for the second part.
