Smith will report to Malcolm Stoodley, Future's UK sales director, and will work closely with the T3 publishing unit to drive its cross-platform sales.

He was previously senior business development manager at Northcliffe Newspapers, the regional arm of Associated Newspapers.

He has also previously worked at the Pearson-owned Financial Times across its portfolio of finance magazines.

Smith replaces Matt Tasker, who left the specialist publisher in April.

His appointment follows the February revamp of the title, which looked to distance itself from its rival, Haymarket-owned Stuff magazine.

According to the latest Audit Bureau of Circulations data, T3's circulation was 60,127 between January and December 2008, a year-on-year lift of about 100 copies.
