Future appoints Kurt Edwards as digital commercial director

LONDON - Special-interest publisher Future has appointed Kurt Edwards, head of digital sales at Bauer Media, as its new digital commercial director.

Kurt, who is also the Association of Online Publisher's commercial group chairman, will start in early December, reporting directly to Simon Wear, Future's chief operating officer.

At Bauer, Kurt was responsible for leading the advertising teams, selling online and mobile advertising across the company's consumer brands.

"Kurt's track record in digital sales is second to none and his experience, skills and drive will help to ensure that we build an even stronger digital offer for our commercial partners."

Kurt began his career at Capital Radio, joining as a graduate trainee in February 1995. He joined Bauer Media (then Emap) in 2003, where his first role was in business development, interactive.

He then moved to Emap Radio becoming commercial advertising director of Kiss Radio before being promoted to head of digital sales in 2006.

Edwards said: "Future is at a very exciting stage in its digital development -- successfully shifting its focus from print to become a truly cross-platform media business.

"The opportunity to take on a new challenge at Future was very appealing to me, and I'm really looking forward to getting started."

Future claims its websites, including PhotoRadar, GamesRadar, BikeRadar, MusicRadar and TechRadar,  now attract more than 25m unique users each month.
