The Quay Street site in Manchester, which was turned into a visitor attraction after the programme moved filming to Trafford in January, has seen more than 200,000 fans of the show visit since April.

Food and venue organisation supplier Kudos, part of the Crown Group, won the contract to provide catering and event space management at the site in April this year. The preliminary closure date of 4 October will see the company complete its six-month deal with Coronation Street – The Tour.

The tour is currently managed by attractions company Continuum. Developer Allied London bought the site for £26m in 2013, and is due to begin site redevelopment next year.

An application to give the set listed status was filed in 2012. English Heritage refused the application, citing the location as ‘not appropriate’ for listed status.
