Planning permission for the attraction, themed around the ITV soap opera, was granted this month, meaning it will remain open until December 2015. It opened this April and has welcomed more than 300,000 visitors.
In a bid to cope with increasing visitor numbers, Kudos is investing in a temporary marquee structure and café furniture as well as introducing a speciality coffee range. The caterer will also continue to operate the existing Crew Kitchen and Crew Kitchen mobile H-Van seven days a week to provide a ‘grab and go’ style offer to visitors.
The company is also celebrating local sustainable produce within its menu range from Manchester suppliers including the Barbakan Bakery, Birtwistles Butchers and the Cheese Cellar.
The venue, which can be hired exclusively in the evening for events and has already hosted the Labour Party conference after-party, features a 45-minute, behind-the-scenes guided tour, access to Sound Stage One sets, and the opportunity for guests to walk out onto the TV show’s famous cobbles.
Jon Pryce, managing partner of Kudos, said: "We’re delighted that Continuum have confirmed they wish Kudos to continue as their catering partner at the Tour. Coronation Street is such an iconic part of British TV culture with a loyal global fan base and we’re very proud to be part of it."
Kevin Smith, director of attractions at Continuum Leading Attractions, added: "We’ve had a highly successful partnership with Kudos over the past six months and we’re excited to be extending it for a further 15 months."
