Coronation Street The Tour welcomes more than 1,500 visitors on opening day

More than 1,500 people walked onto the cobbles of Coronation Street on the opening day of Coronation Street The Tour, the first time the public has been able to go behind the scenes of the celebrated soap opera.

The visitor attraction is produced and operated by Continuum Leading Attractions, which specialises in operating a number of visitor attractions York's Chocolate Story, The Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth and The Real Mary King’s Close, Edinburgh.

Attendees arrived at the Quay Street studios in Manchester and started the tour at Sound Stage One, which houses the Green Room, the stars' dressing room and selected interior sets.

Groups were also given an insight into the making of the show, and guided thorugh 53 years of the programme's history.
