Once ABC figures are in, the final total is likely to be around 84,000, the same as year’s launch event, said the company.

The show offered a variety of interactive experiences, festive entertainment and shopping opportunities with more than 600 stands.

Highlights included a Dancing on Ice pop up skating rink, a celebrity chef theatre and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen’s Naughty & Nice Christmas room sets.

Rob Nathan, group marketing director at Media 10, said: "It is fantastic to see that the momentum from last year’s record-breaking Christmas show was kept and to once again experience such a warm and enthusiastic welcome back to Earls Court by the public.

"The features team work tirelessly every year to generate fresh content and exciting new opportunities for visitors, exemplified best this year by the giant pop up skating rink that formed the show’s centre piece – it looked phenomenal."
