Experian teams with Yahoo! to offer CreditExpert

LONDON – Experian is to partner with Yahoo! UK & Ireland in a deal that will see it offer consumer credit reporting services on Yahoo! Personal Finance.

For an annual fee of £49.99, users will be able to sign up for access to Experian's CreditExpert product, which is the UK's first and only online credit monitoring and identity fraud protection service.

CreditExpert works by sending members an email or SMS text alert, whenever there is a significant change on their Experian credit report.

Yahoo! users will then have unlimited online access to their most up-to-date credit report to see exactly what changes have taken place. Experian claims that CreditExpert provides the most effective means of protection against identity fraud, which is now the UK's fastest-growing crime, costing £1.34bn a year.

Jim Hodgkins, Experian UK's head of direct to consumer, said: "This is a great way of empowering consumers to learn about and proactively manage their credit history."

Yahoo! users will also benefit from co-branded content within the new Credit Reports section in Yahoo! Personal Finance. In addition, there will be ads throughout the Yahoo! site that will link directly to Experian's co-branded CreditExpert site.

Alison Reay, sales director for Yahoo! UK & Ireland, said: “Yahoo! offers an audience of up to 15m users, a mainly young and affluent, ABC1 audience, providing an ideal environment and user base for personal finance. Through our deal with Experian, we are combining with established finance expertise to create a powerful and informative site."
