I got into the event industry because being a Londoner I love the fact the city has a great energy and life about it. There are always so many events going on, so when I left university I thought it would be great to get a job where I could have the opportunity to get involved, travel, work in a team environment and help deliver some of these events.
I have worked here since 2010, and this year marks a particularly special occasion for the agency as we’re turning 30.
I was attracted to this particular role because I really enjoy the client liaison and relationship building element of the role and what’s great is my clients are all very different.
Not many people know that I’m a raving carnivore.
My worst experience at an event was having to go into the men’s toilets to tell a very high-profile speaker that his mic was still on. At the time I was very young and so thought it was mortifyingly embarrassing.
If there’s one thing I’ve learnt it’s always stay calm and collected - even if inside it’s a whole different story.
The best event I’ve been involved in was a charity funded live music event, showcasing the best of a wide selection of teenage talent. It was a bit like the X Factor, with celebrity judges, live audience, but with teenagers performing all their own original music. It was a very rewarding, fun and inspirational event to be involved in.
If I could do it all over again I would learn Mandarin and Spanish, as I love to travel and it would open a world of further opportunities.
The one thing I can’t stand is people hiding behind emails. It’s always better to talk.
Outside of work I spend my time avoiding my Blackberry and taking in lots of fresh air in the big outdoors.
If money were no object I would have a holiday every couple of months, buy lunch for the team, and worry a lot less.
The one thing I can’t do my job without is a sense of humour – at times you just need to be able to laugh and not take things too seriously.
If I could switch places with anyone else in the industry it would be someone like Michael Eavis, Glastonbury creator, as it would just be incredible hosting a festival on that scale, working with so many different talented artists and seeing so many people having a great time listening to the music they love.
If I ruled the event industry I’d throw a lot of free parties in between all my holidays.
