I got into the event industry because it was the opportunity to use my global operational experience within an ambitious organisation that attracted me to move into the field.

I have worked here since July 2013.

I was attracted to this particular role because I found the company's concept, brand and people refreshing and inspiring and therefore it was an easy decision to make.

My worst experience at an event was... none to report – at the moment.

Not many people know that I’ve done a round of golf with Shaking Stevens.

If there’s one thing I’ve learnt it’s preparation is the fundamental key to success when it comes to most things.

The best event I’ve been involved was the internal communications events at DHL Express. They were inside a 40ft vehicle, and the graphic attention to detail, organisation and professionalism totally blew me away. Who would have thought that I would end up working for the company behind these events several years down the line.

If I could do it all over again I would not change a thing. "It" flows for a purpose – I believe that you can only change the now and the future.

The one thing I can’t stand is a lack of attention to detail and people who don’t follow through to the end.

Outside of work I spend my time trying to keep fit – to balance out an inherent love of food and wine.

If money were no object I’d invest in emerging markets – South Africa, the Middle East, Russia and so on.

The one thing I can’t do my job without is a motivated and creative team of people, luckily I currently have both.

If I could switch places with anyone else in the industry it would be... at the moment – and probably only for a short while – our roadshow unit managers. They are the people on the frontline of the company, they work out in the field, meeting clients, setting up and managing our event vehicles. If someone truly understands the world of roadshow events it’s these guys.

If I ruled the event industry I would love to see more educational, knowledge-based events with no commercial motive other than to inspire current and future generations.
