will host content from Cricinfo and ESPNSoccernet, giving fans an overview of the major sports stories, regardless of whether ESPN has broadcast rights to them.

The broadcaster gained the TV rights to 46 UK Premier League games following the collapse of Setanta earlier this year but has yet to launch a site to support the broadcasts, despite the season beginning several weeks ago.

The portal will be editorially led and will promote ESPN's UK assets as well as being a sports destination in its own right.

In the US, gives sports fans on demand access to live sports and highlights, although there are no plans to offer similar services to UK users.

ESPN has yet to decide on a name for the UK sports portal.
