
Cain, who was previously head of research and business development at Emap Consumer Specialist Media, will be in charge of setting AOP’s research agenda and introducing new initiatives.
He will also develop the annual membership survey and produce regular industry research and analysis.
Liz Somerville, acting director of the AOP, said that Cain’s experience in the research field would help them deliver a varied programme for the coming year.
The industry body is continuing its search for a replacement for director Ruth Brownlee, who announced last September that she was stepping down due to family commitments.
The AOP champions the interests of more than 150 companies involved in producing digital content, including newspaper and magazine publishing, TV and radio broadcasting, and pure online media.
