The East End Film Festival (EEFF), now in its 12th year, is holding its premiere night at east London Art Deco venue, Troxy.

Starting on 25 June, the Grade II listed building has been chosen to host the gala screening of Mark Donne’s documentary, The UK Gold, before a surprise live music performance.

The festival will then be hosted at various venues around east London for 15 days until 10 July. It is one of the largest film festivals in the UK, attracting 30,000 visitors each year, and will also feature a host of international films.

Will Poole, events manager at Troxy, said: "We’re delighted that the East End Film Festival has come back to Troxy, following the epic opening night in 2011, which saw the world premiere of The Libertines fly-on-the-wall documentary.

"Mixing the screening with the secret post-film performance will demonstrate the flexibility of Troxy as an events space."

The opening of last year's EEFF was held at St Anne’s Church in Limehouse.

Alison Poltock, artistic director of EEFF, said: "Troxy originally opened as a grand cinema in 1933, and East End Film Festival is pleased to once again be able to bring film back to this grand building in the heart of Limehouse."
