The film experience will take place across three nights, on 17-19 November, at the private members club, hotel and spa, and will include screenings of This is Spinal Tap, Pan’s Labyrinth and Some Like it Hot.
Edible Cinema is a collaboration between Soho House’s chef Jack Rigby Wilson and events manager Zoe Fletcher, organiser Polly Betton and Bombay Sapphire mixologist Sean Ware.
The concept has been designed to enhance the film experience by using taste, aroma and texture to heighten the viewers’ sensory experience during the screening. Each guest receives a selection of numbered boxes at the start of the film, which they will be instructed to open and enjoy at certain points throughout.
The contents of the boxes, as well as carefully matched Bombay Sapphire cocktails, will correspond to the action on-screen.
Each evening, guests will be seated in the intimate cinema, fitted with 45 deep-seated velvet armchairs.
During the This is Spinal Tap cult mockumentary, guests will be able to taste an exact replica of the band’s Stonehenge prop, and will also be served a Sapphire Rosato cocktail inspired by the film, combining Bombay Sapphire, Martini Rosato Vermouth, rose syrup, lime juice and ginger ale.
For the Pan’s Labyrinth screening, edible experiences will be served during the film including pine-scented popcorn, and when the character Ofelia eats an enchanted grape, guests will also enjoy a specially-created carbonated red grape, intended to concentrate and intensify the fruit’s sweet flavour.
