Rock Band is console game which lets groups of up to four players simulate the performance of popular rock song on the roles of the guitarist, drummer and vocalist.
Players are scored based on the number of notes they hit in synch with the music or by matching their pitch with the singer.
According to industry insiders, the popular Rock Band game will be available on the iPhone imminently. EAmobile wrote on its Twitter feed "some big news from the EA Mobile camp being announced tomorrow morning".
Creating iPhone versions of popular games is becoming increasingly popular, as makers attempt to break free from the constraints of the living room.
Earlier this week, Activision, the maker of Guitar Hero unveiled a DJ Hero app for the iPhone featuring exclusive tracks from a number of artists including Robbie Williams and Gorillaz.
Activision also developing games that plug directly into TV sets, a move that would revolutionise the gaming industry and do away with the need for consoles such as the Xbox, Playstation and Wii.
Robert Kotick, chief executive of Activision Blizzard said he expects Activision games - specifically Guitar Hero - to bypass consoles altogether, and suggested other games could follow the same route.
"I think what the untethered Guitar Hero does is equal the playing field a little more and give you some leverage with first parties when it comes to downloadable content and the business model," he said.
He added that the company expects "many of our products to be playable independent of a console".
