Corrie's Tony Gordon to star in web-only episodes

LONDON - Tony Gordon, the murderous 'Coronation Street' character, is to star in three web-only episodes of the ITV1 soap.

Those hoping to get to the bottom of Gordon's recent attack of conscience, however, may be disappointed as the three episodes may make his character's motives seem more complicated, rather than less.

Gordon is currently at the centre of a big storyline, having made what he thought was a deathbed confession to Roy Cropper, admitting that he had the character of Liam Connor murdered.

Cropper is now putting pressure on Gordon, who is recovering from his heart attack, to confess his dark secret.

The web-only scene is in the form of a letter dictated by Gordon to be delivered to his fiancee Maria, who is also the widow of the man he had murdered. The script for each three-minute scene is the same, but delivered with different interpretations by actor Gray O'Brien, who plays Gordon.

The webisodes will be hosted on starting next Monday.

Kate Bradshaw, deputy managing director and head of online commissioning for ITV.com, said: "We know from experience that our viewers want to watch additional content from our programmes on itv.com. Last year over half a million Corrie fans downloaded extra footage of Liam Connor's murder and accompanying behind-the-scenes content."
