Corrie gets into e-commerce: buy Street goods online

LONDON - ITV has launched an online store for Coronation Street fans, with plans to have 35 products relating to the long-running soap on sale by Christmas this year.

The 'Coronation Street' store is part of the . It goes live today selling calendars, a branded Monopoly set and the new DVD, 'Coronation Street Romanian Holiday'.

By Christmas it will also be selling stationery, clothing and other merchandise, commissioned in a number of deals by ITV Studios Global Entertainment. The shop is run by online retail company Digital Stores and sponsored by Harveys, the show's on-air sponsor. 

Steve Gallant, director of home entertainment and digital at ITV Studios Global Entertainment, said: "Core to our strategy is the creation and exploitation of high-quality brand extensions for ITV Studios' biggest shows, distributing them across traditional, online and digital outlets."

Coronation Street marks its 50th anniversary next year and will celebrate with products from partners under the banner 'Coronation Street 50th Anniversay Best of British brands'. Warburtons and Harveys have already signed up to the promotion.
