Based in Wokingham, Volume Group positions itself as a provider of IT, financial services and data intelligence services to businesses including Dell, BPP and Oracle. Recent acquisitions include GlobalDM in January 2007 and DM printer Vee Media in June 2008.
Lloyd, whose past trade body involvement includes the presidency of the Institute of Sales Promotion, a directorship of the Advertising Standards Board of Finance and council membership of the Advertising Association, remains closely involved in the DM industry.
He remains a director of The REaD Group and chairs the Telephone Preference Service. In 2006 he was appointed as Chairman of the Fundraising Standards Board, the self-regulatory body for the UK charity sector.
Commenting on his Volume Group appointment, Lloyd said: "Volume came as a shock to me. Their sector isn't defined. The breadth of what they're offering in data, technology, media, and through their creative, is a great example of how an integrated offer can deliver real economies for clients."
He added: "I can promise you that this group of people are going to steal ground in 2009 and it won't be through luck. They have been preparing for a long time and are about to step up a gear."
