Feature

Brand manager of the week: Charlie Papworth, Senior brand manager, Bernard Matthews Farms

- Describe yourself in three words.

Competitive Big-Bird.

- What would you be if you weren't a brand manager?

A sports agent - or, if I could have stunted my growth, a jockey.

- What advice would you give someone starting their marketing career today?

Spend some time in a retail environment. It's a great way to understand consumers and purchase behaviour.

- What was your first job?

A grain runner. Driving around farms all day in the summer holidays collecting samples from the harvest and taking them back to the grain merchants to decide the price they would give the farmer. Fun times.

- What's your favourite holiday destination?

Skiing and the legendary apres-ski in St Anton.

- If you weren't you, who would you be?

I wouldn't mind being Kate Middleton for a day or two.

- What's your favourite pub?

Our village pub, The Red Lion in Kenninghall - 112 paces from the front door.

- What hobbies do you have?

Horse-riding, netball, cooking.

- What makes you angry?

Lazy people.

- What other languages do you speak?

Does Norfolk count?

- If you were a brand, what would you be and why?

Hendrick's Gin - a new take on a classic. Refreshing, appreciated, quality - especially after 7pm.

- What's your greatest ambition?

It used to be to ride the winner of the Grand National; now it's probably to own the winner.

- If you could get tickets to any event, what would it be?

A magical golden ticket to the Olympics - entry to the best seats for any event whenever I wanted.

- What was your finest hour?

Riding my first winner in a race.

- If you had three wishes, what would they be?

Every family in the UK to eat turkey at least once a week; to be able to click my fingers and be at home; an ice-cream man to pull up at work everyday.
