BBC and HBO team up for thriller 'Five Days'

LONDON – Fresh from working together on 'Tsunami: The Aftermath', the BBC and HBO are teaming up again for a new dram, 'Five Days', which stars veteran actor Edward Woodward among others.

A mother and her children vanishes from a motorway lay-by sparking a hunt and a national newspaper story.

The BBC and the Time Warner-owned HBO have worked together on a number of projects including the recent 'Tsunami: The Aftermath', the toga and sandal drama 'Rome' as well as 'Band of Brothers'.

HBO also recently worked with Channel 4 on the co-production of 'Elizabeth I', which received 13 Emmy nominations.

The twisting and turning multi-part drama will reveal that no one is quite who they seem, from the grieving husband and the detective and his cynical sidekick sergeant.

Jane Tranter, BBC controller of drama commissioning, said: "We are delighted to be collaborating once again with HBO, continuing our strong creative relationship which has seen us working together on many projects."

The drama also stars Nikki Amuka-Bird, most recently seen in 'Line of Beauty', alongside Hugh Bonneville of 'Daniel Deronda', and Charlie Creed-Miles of 'Charles II' and 'King Arthur'.

Earlier this year HBO, which is behind 'Sex and the City' and 'Six Feet Under', was reported to be considering launching a UK channel.

Simon Sutton, HBO International's president, told an audience at the Oxford Media Convention that the broadcaster was mulling a move into the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy or Japan.

HBO currently runs channels in Eastern Europe, Latin America, India and South-East Asia.
