Baron Cohen's Bruno spoof lampooned by Nando's

SYDNEY - Sacha Baron Cohen has been on the receiving end of the type of prank he is more accustomed to doling out, when the Sydney premiere of his upcoming film 'Bruno' was hijacked by a lookalike promoting the virtues of restaurant chain Nando's.

In a stunt staged by the Sphere Agency, the chicken restaurant chain hired a Bruno lookalike and a clutch of scantily clad models to arrive at the foot of the premiere's red carpet in a pink stretch limo, half an hour before the "real" Bruno turned up.

The imposter, dressed in outrageously camp garb and adopting a ridiculous Austrian accent -- in keeping with Bruno's gay Austrian fashion reporter character -- mounted a platform on the red carpet and began shouting at the screaming crowds through a megaphone.

The models then stripped off to reveal Nando's promotional copy "This year's hottest chicks are covered in Peri Peri".

At this point, the game was up and the lookalike was grabbed by bouncers and forcibly removed from the podium.

A video of the stunt has to date attracted more than 15,700 views.

Last month, the real Bruno was involved in a stunt at the , in which he took flight, before crash-landing onto an apparently irate Eminem, whose face was caught between the fashionista's buttocks.

However, later on it transpired that the incident was planned and rehearsed by both parties.
