Search Pad aims to remove the need to copy and paste links and text into separate documents, save bookmarks or take written notes when researching subjects such as holidays, jobs and shopping.
Search Pad automatically recognises when users are conducting research based on search activity and offers the option of opening the program.
Once activated, Search Pad saves recent items, including links, in a single integrated notepad, which can be edited, printed, saved, emailed or shared. It is also capable of establishing where 'copy and pasted' text is likely to have come from, and adds a link to the source.
Yahoo! will also pre-populate a user's notes with information it believes is relevant to the search, including the user's last few queries prior to launching the app.
The feature will be rolled out in 15 countries, including the UK, from today.
Yahoo!'s note-taking add-on joins Microsoft's Thumbtack, which launched in December, and Google's Notebook.
