The TV adverts will run from this week on digital channels Fiver, Living TV, Living TV2, ITV3, Paramount, TCM, True Movies, UKTV Drama, UKTV Food, UKTV Gardens, UKTV History and VH1.
The campaign is designed specifically to recruit new financial supporters using powerful footage "asking donors to stop the poor simply surviving and help them to actually live", according to Gail Cookson of WPN.
Actor Pete Postlethwaite, known for roles in 'Distant Voices, Still Lives', 'In the Name of the Father' and the period TV drama series 'Sharpe', has lent his voice to the 90-second adverts, giving "a gritty, real edge to the striking footage".
The advert asks for a simple £2 a month donation citing the recent flood disaster in India, with the words "We believe in life before death".
Richard Moody of Christian Aid said: "This creative takes us on a powerful journey from the emotive need through to the solutions that Christian Aid provide.
"We at Christian Aid are very excited about the powerful new acquisition drive and this advert’s key role in achieving success."
A recent poll ran by the charity found that television was the most efficient way to gather donations. Christian Aid's poll of more than 1,000 UK adults showed 69% of donors responded to TV appeals, compared to 12% for newspapers and 6% for the internet.
The advert will also aim to raise public awareness of Christian Aid’s work in the world’s poorest countries, helping people bring poverty and injustice to an end, regardless of faith or ethnicity.
Christian Aid recently appointed Mike Colling & Co to handle the media planning and buying for the campaign.
