Vodafone UK hires The Marketing Store for high street communications

LONDON - Vodafone UK has appointed The Marketing Store to manage its high street retail communications and point of sale account, following a four-way pitch.

The agency takes over the account from RMG Connect, and will be responsible for direct mail, retail communications, indirect point of sale, and high street events for the mobile phone giant, from October 1. RMG Connect declined to repitch for the account.

Vodafone also confirmed that DAD has taken over its response-focused offline advertising work, which was previously handled by RMG Connect. DAD stands for Digital and Direct and was formerly known as SBG Finex.

Tim Yates, chief marketing officer at Vodafone UK, said: "Both the direct and indirect channels are extremely important to us and TMS' proposals showed the creativity that is needed to make us stand apart from our rivals in a very competitive market place."

The Marketing Store, which appointed David Bender as global chief executive to replace the retiring Graham Kemp in January, also handles accounts for McDonald's, Masterfoods, Unilever and InBev.
