The restructure is being led by group chief marketing officer Wendy Becker. Becker will be reviewing the businesses handset and consumer services as part of a revaluation of the overall Vodafone Group marketing structure, in a bid to align the brand to be lighter on its feet and more competitive.
The review of the mobile advertising division currently headed up by Lee Epting is currently being undertaken with the strategy team until a plan of how best to handle the division is decided.
The division which could face closure has come up against increased competition recently with the likes of Google's mobile advertising specialist business AdMob, and will face stiff competition from Apple's recently launched mobile ad network, iAd.
Vodafone Group has appointed Harit Nagpal as its interim global brand director following the gap left blank by the departure of David Wheldon.
Nagpal joins the UK arm from India, where he was chief marketing officer for the business. He will take on a broader position to that of Wheldon, also overseeing the brand's consumer insight division.
Wheldon left the business last month after six years at the company. He currently does not have another job to go to.
The review follows Vodafone's recent appointment of T-Mobile's chief marketing officer Srini Gopalan to the position of UK consumer director following the departure of Ian Shepherd.
