Virgin Media to create digital sales team

Virgin Media is planning to create a digital sales team, Virgin Media Digital Sales, to sell advertising on its online, mobile and TV platforms following the closure of Ids at the end of this year.

In July , its ad sales house, following the confirmation that from Ids in January after signing 10-year deal worth in excess of £1bn.

More than 100 people currently work at Ids, which is led by managing director James Wildman, including executive sales director Martin Plant, director of sales Andrew Atkinson, and director of digital, Stuart Flint.

It is understood that Virgin Media is speaking to Ids staff about opportunities at the new sales force which is expected to include around 15 to 25 new roles. It is planning to engage with advertising and media buying agencies shortly.

Virgin Media Digital Sales will be responsible for advertising sales across Virgin Media's online, mobile and TV platforms, including the recently launched Virgin Media Player and the new player it is launching with TiVo later this year.

The UKTV-Channel 4 deal followed the announcement of . The ad sales for VMtv, which has since been renamed the Living TV Group, will move to Sky Media from Ids in January.
