The addition of Channel 5 content means Virgin Media now offers on-demand content from all the public service broadcasters, some of which is in high definition.
Cindy Rose, executive director of digital entertainment at Virgin Media, said: "With a high calibre of shows including quality US drama, popular Australian soaps and entertaining and informative home-grown programmes with many in high definition, Demand Five has something for everyone."
Jonathan Lewis, head of digital media at Channel 5, said: "Offering Demand Five through Virgin Media will give even more consumers the opportunity to watch a selection of our shows, at a time convenient to them."
Virgin Media’s TV on-demand library contains more than 4,600 hours of TV, film and music, including hundreds of hours in high definition.
Last Monday, Channel 5 relaunched its online catch-up service, combining Demand Five with its news, listings and information website Five.tv, to ready the service for transferring onto new platforms such as the internet TV consortium, YouView.
