Virgin Atlantic launches social networking site for travel lovers

LONDON - Virgin Atlantic has launched a new travel website called vtravelled.com, which links travellers around the world in an online community.

has been built on the . It lets travellers share knowledge, thoughts and photos and has software which suggests relevant information to community members.

Other features include:

  • Carousel navigation replicating the iconic iPod.
  • Real-time updates to the top events happening in the destination a traveller is visiting or plans to visit.
  • A Trip Pod feature, which allows content to be placed in a special pod or shared with people on other sites.

Vtravelled launches to coincide with the 25th anniversary celebrations of Virgin Atlantic.

Lysette Gauna, creative director of vtravelled, said: "We like to make it our mission, wherever possible, to make travel more fun and inspiring.

"It was a great advantage working with Vexed Digital who are very experienced in developing social platforms.

"Together I believe we have developed some 'must have' tools for travellers and as the community grows they will help us shape and refine the offering."

Vexed specialises in creating social media properties for global brands.
