AT&T provides landlines and mobile phone connections to Americans, as well as internet services and digital television. It has signed a branding and marketing agreement with Vevo to "support Vevo's comprehensive services across multiple connected platforms". Terms were not disclosed.

News of the deal comes shortly after Vevo said it had received new funding from Middle Eastern giant Abu Dhabi Media Company.

Vevo has been formed by YouTube, Universal Music and Sony Music Entertainment as a way of making money from the vast numbers of music videos that are watched on the site, as well as on Vevo.com and through a branded Vevo player that can be embedded in other sites.

Chris Schembri, vice-president of media services for AT&T, said: "Music and entertainment are two of the broadest-reaching and influential 'passion points' for consumers, and aligning our brand with a new property like Vevo gives us a chance to reach them in fresh, meaningful ways."
