The 36-page RPSport will come free with the Racing Post every weekend and will take the horse racing title into all areas of sport betting, from football and rugby to cricket, snooker and darts.
The move is the biggest change to the Racing Post since it was launched nearly 20 years ago.
It comes as the Racing Post looks set for new competition from a new national tabloid newspaper, The Sportsman, which is being headed up by Jeremy Deedes, the former Telegraph Group chief executive. The paper is also backed by Zac and Ben Goldsmith, sons of the late James Goldsmith.
The launch of RPSport also sees the introduction of a new betting markets section, displaying in an easy-to-read format all prices and odds for every market of interest -- from 'Celebrity Big Brother' to the 2006 World Cup.
Chris Smith, editor of the Racing Post, said: "RPSport is one of the most exciting innovations in the history of the Racing Post operation. Our sports section has been growing and expanding for years but this is taking it not just one step further, but two or three."
The launch is being supported by a substantial in-house created marketing campaign, involving in-paper promotions and advertising, online and email promotion, sampling and promotion at football matches, race sponsorship and external newspaper advertising.
