Trading Places: This week's people moves in advertising, marketing and media

With high-profile departures from Channel 5 and eBay, and equally high-profile appointments at M&C Saatchi Group and McCann Erickson London, BR rounds up this week's industry moves.

Kelly Williams, the sales director of Channel 5, is leaving the broadcaster and will be replaced by Nick Bampton. Williams, who has been the sales director since March 2004, has taken the decision to leave just five months after its acquisition by Richard Desmond’s Northern & Shell. Bampton’s appointment means a return to frontline TV sales a year after he left his role as the managing director of Viacom Brand Solutions, following its acquisition by Sky Media. (±±¾©Èü³µpk10)

DDB UK has promoted the former technology director at Tribal DDB Matt Oxley to the role of head of creative technology across the agency. Oxley, who has been with DDB since 1999, will be responsible for providing technology insight and expertise throughout the creative process across all DDB UK clients. (±±¾©Èü³µpk10)

Walker Media has poached MediaCom's head of strategic solutions Sean Healy to become its managing director in a restructure that also sees Simon Davis promoted to chief executive. (±±¾©Èü³µpk10)

M&C Saatchi Group has poached Iris Worldwide's partner and director of new business and marketing for Europe, Katie Gibbs, as its new business director. Gibbs, who has been at Iris for seven years and was ±±¾©Èü³µpk10’s "Face to Watch" in 2009, will succeed Camilla Harrison, who was promoted to chief operating officer of the group in April. McCann Erickson London executive creative directors Simon Learman and Brian Fraser are set to leave the agency in the New Year as Linus Karlsson prepares to join as chief creative officer. Karlsson will join McCann Erickson New York and London from Mother NY, which he co-founded in 2003 with long-term business partner and fellow creative, Paul Malmstrom. (±±¾©Èü³µpk10)

Ben Jankowski, the current Johnson & Johnson (J&J) global account lead at OMD, has resigned and will become the global media director of MasterCard early next year. Jankowski has led the J&J business globally at OMD since 2008, working across functional and geographic lines for the J&J account within the 27 markets where OMD has a long–standing relationship with the FMCG giant. Marketing

McDonald's has u-turned on its decision to appoint former UK chief executive Steve Easterbrook to the job of global chief branding officer. Instead, he will now head up the fast-food chain's European operations. In May, McDonald's appointed Easterbrook, its top executive in the UK and Northern Europe, to the new role of global chief brand officer, in a management shift. ()

Nokia has unveiled a newly formed marketing and communications set-up and appointed Jerri DeVard to lead it as chief marketing officer. ()

Martin Moran, the Post Office's head of financial services, has been drafted in to act as the company's marketing director, in the wake of Gary Hockey-Morley's departure.()

Alex Marks, eBay's head of international business marketing, is leaving the company to set up a consultancy. (

Unilever, the FMCG giant, has named Petra Hangweier as the new category director for laundry within its UK and Ireland business. The internal appointment will see Hangweier move from her position as savoury category director for Unilever’s German, Austrian and Swiss business. ()

Media

Public service broadcaster Channel 4 has appointed Ids director of sales Andy Atkinson as a consultant to help with the integration of the UKTV sales contract from January 2011. ()

John Myers, the former chief executive of GMG Radio, is to return to radio as chief executive of industry charity The Radio Academy. Myers, who left GMG Radio last year to travel the world, will take up the senior post at the Academy in April 2011. ()

Patience Wheatcroft is leaving her role as editor-in-chief of Wall Street Journal (WSJ) Europe after just 18 months in the position. Her departure from the News Corporation-owned newspaper coincides with her nomination as a Conservative peer. The WSJ said she was leaving because of her appointment. ()
