Budget airline easyJet has hired Audi's top marketer Peter Duffy as its new marketing director. Duffy joins in the New Year and will be responsible for all the company’s marketing activity across Europe. He will work alongside the chief commercial officer, Dana Dunne, and will report directly to easyJet chief executive, Carolyn McCall. ()
Car and cycle specialist Halfords has appointed Gerry Murphy, former chief executive of 118 118 owner The Number, as group brand marketing director. Murphy left 118 118 in May and joins Halfords on 4 January. ()
Haymarket Brand Media has appointed Noelle McElhatton as editor of Marketing. She takes over from Gareth Jones, who leaves this month to join the digital agency Lbi. McElhatton is currently editor in the Brand Media Central’s Creative Solutions Group. ()
Soft-drinks manufacturer Britvic has hired Pamela Bower-Nye to the new role of international marketing director. Bower-Nye will report directly to Simon Stewart, Britvic’s group marketing director. ()

Jane Ratcliffe is relinquishing her role as chief executive of MediaCom, the UK's largest media agency, to become chairman. She will be replaced by Karen Blackett, currently chief operations director of EMEA. Mark Cross is to take board responsibility for media buying at the Central Office of Information, as the beleaguered Government body confirms the departure of Corrine Purton and Jeremy Found. Bauer Media has called upon veteran FHM editor Ed Needham to redesign its flagship men's title in the hope it will offer more appeal to its readers. Needham, a former editor of FHM in the UK and the US, now runs the online publishing company Grand Parade. ()
News International has promoted financier Chris Longcroft to the newly created role of managing director, operations, ahead of Clive Milner's exit. Longcroft will be responsible for Newsprinters, the three News International-owned and managed sites, as well as the contract print sites across the UK, Ireland and the rest of Europe. ()
Global, the commercial radio company, has promoted Stephen Miron from Global Radio chief executive to Global Group chief executive, expanding his responsibility to the talent and publishing divisions of Global Group. Following Miron’s promotion, Global Radio founder and Global Group chief executive Ashley Tabor will take the role of founder and executive president. Mail Newspapers is bolstering its media sell to clients and agencies with the internal appointment of Nigel Bromley to the new role of head of marketing for Mail Connected, its advertising division. Bromley, who joined the Daily Mail publisher in 2007, will take up the role in the New Year. ()
