Brian McCarthy, chief executive and MD of Fairfax Media, has resigned from the company, effective immediately. The company's print and online publications include The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Australian Financial Review. Greg Hywood, currently a non-executive director, has assumed the role of acting chief executive while a global executive search is conducted. (±±¾©Èü³µpk10)

Cheil UK has hired Leagas Delaney managing director Chris Harris as its president and chief operating officer. The South Korean group has recruited Harris as part of plans to build creative, strategic and digital offerings across all channels, to better serve its key Samsung client and strengthen its UK and European offering. Havas Media has appointed a new digital head of data and analytics and digital head of technology. Damien Healy and Ciaran McConaghy will work across the two Havas Digital specialist media business units, Arena Quantum and Media Contacts. (±±¾©Èü³µpk10)

PHD Worldwide has promoted Mark Holden, currently managing partner at PHD Australia, to the role of global strategy director, based in London. Holden will begin in his new role in January and report to worldwide chief executive Mike Cooper. (±±¾©Èü³µpk10)

Aegis media agency Carat has promoted board director Matthew Landeman to its management team with the new role of business director, Carat's most senior client group management position. (±±¾©Èü³µpk10)

Media

Bauer Media has appointed luxury fashion executive Linda Peters as managing director of its luxury e-commerce site Cocosa.com. Peters is replacing Andrew Robb, who left the role six months ago to join Farfetch, the online retail business. ()

Marketing

Hovis marketing director Jon Goldstone has been appointed as Premier Foods' first group marketing director. ()

Marketing editor Gareth Jones is leaving the magazine at the end of the year to become brand engagement director at digital agency LBi. Jones has had two stints on Marketing. The latter began in January, when he returned as acting editor, before becoming editor a few months later. Prior to that, Jones edited Haymarket's digital title Revolution, which was rolled into Marketing at the end of last year. He has also been Marketing's news editor and digital editor. ()
