TNS names Mezzasalma as head of media measurement

LONDON - Media measurement company TNS has named Andrea Mezzasalma as head of its iTram internet, television and radio audience measurement division.

Mezzasalma will relocate from Milan to London to take up the role, taking over from Mike Gorton after his retirement.

He joins from Eurisko, the Italian marketing information company that was acquired by NOP World in 2003 and is now part of GfK. At Eurisko, he developed segmentation tools and designed and ran a pioneering method for measuring the exposure of out-of-home advertising.

He also helped develop the Eurisko Media Monitor, a portable multimedia meter based on sound-matching technology.

David Lowden, TNS chief executive, said: "With rapid changes in technology, media measurement is becoming more complex and TNS is responding to this challenge by developing more sophisticated models to enable data segmentation, digitisation and internet measurement.

"Andrea will provide valuable expertise in the technology and audience measurement fields to take the iTRAM team forward and deliver growth in this important sector."

Gorton is retiring after five years with TNS but will remain as a consultant with the company.

TNS was recently appointed by Rajar and Barb to their portable meter and panel development audience measurement programme, a project that will be overseen by Mezzasalma.
