Tesco pulled up by ASA on toy ad

LONDON - Tesco has been pulled up by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for a misleading ad that implied all its toys were included in its half-price sale.

Tesco pulled up by ASA on toy ad

The TV commerical closed with the text ‘Selected UK stores, line and availability. Ends 9 November', however three viewers, as well as retailer Argos, challenged the terms and availability of the offer.

While the ASA agreed with Tesco that all the toys in the ad were in fact available at half-price the ad impled that the offer extended to all toys stocked by the retailer.

The ASA final ruling was that the ad was misleading as it did not make the exact terms of the offer clear to viewers.
