The partnership will see ITN help create TV video newsclips that will be aired on the paper’s website, telegraph.co.uk, along with commentary and analysis from Telegraph experts. In future, the broadcasts could also be aired within ITN news bulletins.
Edward Roussel, online editorial director of the Telegraph Media Group, said: “We will use TV clips for illustrating the news, commentary from experts on live breaking news and then creating specific productions where we provide Telegraph experts.”
The programming would play to Telegraph strengths in subjects such as the arts and sport.
“We are not going to deliver the News at One. ITN will always do that better than the Telegraph or The Times. We will deliver compact, quality pieces,” said Roussel. He added that programmes could be syndicated elsewhere.
The media player on the website will allow material to be archived and then searched to allow users to summon video-on-demand.
