Big news from Tesco today.

Tesco has launched a closed review of its media planning and buying business, which has been handled by Initiative for more than 20 years.

Agencies have until the end of this month to finish the first submission.

The review follows the arrival of Dave Lewis, the former president of personal care at Unilever, as the chief executive of Tesco in September 2014. 

In January, Tesco moved its creative account out of Wieden & Kennedy and into Bartle Bogle Hegarty without a pitch.

VCCP has are to become associate creative directors.

Chris Birch and Jonny Parker, Kieran Knight and Veryan Prigg, and Pete Bastiman and David Aylesbury have all been promoted.

This is the first time VCCP has appointed associate creative directors, who will spend more time with clients.

Darren Bailes, executive creative director at VCCP, indicated there would be more creative hires to come for the agency later this year.

On social: A third of young people say social media will influence their vote

that more than a third of those aged 18-24 said their General Election vote would be influenced by something they read on social media.

Social media among this group of voters is ranked second only to TV debates in terms of influencing whose box they'll tick.

Research from specialist marketing recruiter EMR suggests that Ukip is leading the pack on Facebook, with Labour ahead on Twitter and the Conservatives dominant on LinkedIn.

The youth vote is traditionally one of the least likely to turn out.
