The England captain and Manchester United star has agreements with Adidas, Pepsi and Brylcreem, among others, worth in the region of 拢10m.
He was set to be the most-sponsored player of the World Cup, but his value to sponsors will be severely diminished if he -- as feared -- can not play.
Adidas had planned an advertising campaign around the World Cup, which was due to launch tomorrow. It was to feature Beckham, who earns 拢3m a year from the clothing maker.
However, if he is unable to play during this summer's tournament, the campaign will be undermined.
Beckham broke the second metatarsal bone in his left foot last night after being tackled during a game against Deportivo La Coruna. Manchester United went on to win the match 5-2 on aggregate.
Other companies that have deals with Beckham include Police Sunglasses and Rage Software, which signed him for a series of games. Marks & Spencer also signed the fashion-conscious star to help design a range of boys' clothing.
