Software Bureau tackles gift aid problems with Matchcode

LONDON - The Software Bureau has chosen the Capscan product Matchcode Names, a database of 44m records, to enhance its data processing software Cygnus.

Cygnus will now be able to compare records with Matchcode's database, the National Canvasse Lifestyle database, which stores 44m names.

Charities often struggle to claim back gift aid due to poor or incomplete addresses. The new version of Cygnus will attempt to address this, by comparing names and addresses with those held in the Matchcode database.

David Murray, sales director at The Software Bureau, said: "Gift aid declarations are a crucial part of charity income, but many organisations simply don't have the cost effective data processing capabilities to reclaim tax by having accurate name and address data.

"This new module should change that for good not only with gift aid but also for cleansing and verifying their supporter base."

Rod Amies, Capscan partner manager, said: "Clients of Cygnus can now ensure that their contact databases are populated with only accurate information by validating the names and addresses."
