Smyle secures The Ryder Cup 2014 ceremonies contract

Agency Smyle has been appointed to produce the opening and closing ceremonies at the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland.

The biennial golfing competition, which will see teams from Europe and the United States battle it out against one another, is taking place on 23-28 September at .

Smyle previously produced the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2010 edition of The Ryder Cup, which was hosted at The Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, south Wales.

As this year’s ceremony production partner, Smyle will be responsible for show creation and production, technical delivery, event staging and set design for the opening ceremony on 25 September, as well as the closing ceremony on 28 September.

The agency will be working in conjunction with Sky Sports on the show production.

Dominic Thomas-Smith, events director at Smyle, said: "It is anticipated that 45,000 spectators will attend The Ryder Cup each day with a global audience of over 500 million watching on television. The match between Europe and the US has become one of the most talked about contests in world sport today.

"Complex live experiences, like the opening and closing ceremonies, are what Smyle thrives on delivering - we are very proud to be involved with the event once again and to be associated with such a key fixture in the global sporting calendar."
