Sharon Osbourne set to star in new Asda campaign

LONDON - 'X Factor' judge and wife of Black Sabbath's Ozzy, Sharon Osbourne, is set to be the new face of supermarket giant Asda, replacing actress Julie Walters.

Osbourne will star in TV ads and billboards for Asda after proving a star in her own right last as a judge in ITV talent show 'X Factor' last year. Publicis will provide the creative for the campaign.

She will replace Walters, who most recently starred in the supermarket chain's Christmas ads as an elf popping out of an advent calender in a campaign created by Publicis.

Previously, Osbourne starred in MTV's fly-on-the-wall documentary 'The Osbournes' and has managed her husband's lucrative career as frontman of Black Sabbath and the Ozzfest festival.

Asda has invested heavily in promotional and advertising activity, spending £20m annually on television alone. The commercials underscore Asda's great value by using the "pocket the difference" tagline while featuring ordinary shoppers and staff in everyday situations.

Asda were unable for comment at the time of publication.
