SEAT backs new Ibiza with bearded 'Cupid' character

LONDON - Volkswagen-owned SEAT is rolling out a tongue-in-cheek TV campaign showing consumers literally falling head over heels in love with its latest Ibiza Cupra model.

The ad, by Barcelona-based agency Atletico International, sees a bearded and tattooed version of Cupid flying above the car, firing arrows at everyone walking on the street and in nearby cafes.

The TV spot is backed with print ads in magazines such as Empire, Q, Heat, Closer and Now, as well as outdoor poster sites. SEAT is also creating a dedicated Facebook group for the ‘winged love warrior'.

‘Being SEAT, we knew we couldn't go for the clichéd image of a Cupid-style persona,' said SEAT UK national communications manager Rob Taylor.

‘We wanted to develop a different type of character, an archer with real attitude and street cred who spreads the love for Ibiza in an inimitable way,' he added.

The ad is only allowed to run after 7:30 pm.
