
The group has reported a 12% profit increase for commercial events for the year to date, while the National Railway Museum in York – one of its northern-based venues – has experienced a 45% lift.
The new recruits will work across SMG’s northern venues including the National Railway Museum, the National Media Museum in Bradford and the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester.
Alan Cass has joined the company as event sales manager north, a newly-created role. He previously worked for hotel chains Principal Hayley, IHG and Radisson, as well as Harvey Nichols.
Class will be in charge of managing the in-house sales team and focusing on pro-active growth of business across SMG’s northern sites.
Chris Hanley, formerly of Prego Events, has been appointed as events manager north, and will be heading up the operational side of the business.
Charlotte Scott will join the company in early December as operations executive after two and a half years with CGC Event Caterers, while Coralie Benton, joins as a sales executive after graduating from Leeds Metropolitan University earlier this year.
