Sam overtakes Derek as favourite for Big Brother eviction

LONDON - Bookies say that Sam is now the hot favourite to get the boot from 'Big Brother' on Friday after usurping gay Tory Derek as the favourite to go.

According to Ladbrokes, there has been a big gamble on Sam to go on Friday and she is now favourite after her odds were cut from 6/4 to 4/5. In contrast, it says that Derek's odds of surviving look better after they drifted from 4/6 to 5/4.

Sam had been popular in the house with some contestants since she arrived. Lesley, who was evicted, had picked on Sam. This week, she received three nominations including one from Vanessa who was friends with Lesley.

Ladbrokes spokesman Warren Lush said: "Sam hasn't got a big fan club out there, we've been forced to slash the odds on her going and she is now the narrow favourite for the chop. The public are sick of the bikini-clad warbler."

However, Roberto picked up six nominations after he, Derek and Craig were exposed plotting to get rid of Saskia.

Big Brother played footage of the discussions to the other housemates, who got their revenge by nominating Derek and Roberto. Craig appears to have escaped having pleaded tearfully for an hour to Saskia that the plot was nothing to do with him.

Lush said the battle was set to be closest yet.

"Derek is likely to take centre stage in the next couple of days while Sam could fade into the background. The problem Sam has, however, is that the damage is done and she is as unpopular outside the house as she is inside," he said.

However, Sam could still be saved. "If Derek was to mention his liking for shooting furry animals before Friday he'd probably be a dead man."

Ladbrokes has also cut the odds on Anthony to win from 9/1 to 8/1 and said that the battle for the prize money looks wide open.

"Favourite Maxwell is losing support by the day and we've pushed his odds out to 7/2 from 3/1."
