River has been officially appointed to produce three of the four Harrods magazines. This includes a one-shot watches and jewellery title, Precious & Timeless, which River won the task to publish last year. This magazine will now be published annually.
In addition, a Christmas edition and an autumn issue will be published by River, while one further title. The task to produce a spring/summer beauty title has not been officially awarded to River.
River has hired Deborah Bee, an editor of Redwood titles for Harvey Nichols and American Express, to edit the Harold titles, and Beth Hodder, who works on several of River's retail magazines, has been named as publisher. All ads on the titles are sold in-house by Harrods own team and that situation remains unaffected by the appointment of River.
Guy Cheston, Harrods director of advertising, says River demonstrated its understanding of the Harrods brand last year when the two collaborated on the magazine Precious & Timeless, which celebrated the relaunch of its Fine Jewellery and Watches room.
Edward Axon, River publishing's deputy managing director, said: "We are extremely pleased to be renewing our relationship with Harrods and look forward to developing many of our initial ideas with its team.
"We are confident that River's unique blend of first-class editorial and design coupled with excellent commercial processes will enable us to deliver premium publications to the world's most luxurious retailer."
